Getting on air
A new station broadcasts within about a minute of signup, playing the fallback track until you give it something else. Fill it either way, or both.
AutoDJ. Open the media library, upload MP3s, put them in a playlist. It plays whenever you are not live.
Live. Your dashboard shows a server, a port and a password. Put those into any Icecast or SHOUTcast encoder and connect. You take over the air immediately, and the playlist resumes when you stop. Settings for each program.
My encoder will not connect
Almost always one of these, in the order worth checking:
- The port is not 8000. Every station gets its own, and it is on your dashboard. Encoders default to 8000 and it is almost never right
- The password was retyped. Copy it instead
- The username is
source, not your email - The station is suspended for an unpaid balance. The dashboard says so at the top
Other things that go wrong
Listeners hear the fallback track. The AutoDJ has nothing playable: an empty playlist, or files still processing. Check the media library shows them ready.
The stream is stuck. Restart it from your dashboard. It drops whoever is listening and comes back in a few seconds. If that does not fix it, tell us.
A player on your site stopped working. It should point at your station hostname with no port and no path, over HTTPS. A URL with a port in it is the source port, which only your encoder uses.
Billing
You top up a balance and each station bills against it monthly. One payment can cover several stations or several months, and there is no contract.
Run out and we email you, then after the grace period the stations stop. Nothing else happens: your music, playlists, hostname and password are kept, and everything resumes within a minute of the balance clearing. Nothing is deleted until a station has been off for a month, and we warn you first.
Refunds: ask. If we broke something, we credit it. See terms.
Music licensing
Paying us covers hosting and nothing else. Broadcasting recorded music almost everywhere needs a licence from the collecting societies where you are, and that is between you and them. No stream host can provide it, whatever they imply.
If you broadcast only speech, your own recordings, or music you hold the rights to, this does not apply to you.
Webhooks and the API
Your own systems can hear about your stations as things happen, and read your account whenever they need to. Both are under Integrations on your dashboard, on every plan. How they work.
Still stuck
Email us with your station name and what you were doing. For an encoder problem, the exact error it shows saves a round trip.
